The health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our highest priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is requiring hospitals to meet established criteria as part of the state’s reopening plan. The Boston Shriners Hospital completed its Phase 1 attestation on May 27, 2020, and its Phase 2 attestation on June 15, 2020 and its Phase 3 attestation on July 13, 2020. The Phase 3 attestation was resubmitted and reaffirmed on November 16, 2020. The Boston Shriners Hospital also completed and submitted the state’s resurgence attestation on November 16, 2020.

Kathy Prelack, Ph.D., RD

Kathy Prelack, Ph.D., RD

Kathy Prelack, Ph.D., RD, is the director of clinical nutrition at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston. In addition to her role in nutrition support of pediatric burn patients, Dr. Prelack is a scientific investigator at the Boston Shriners Hospital and a research assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital, department of surgery. Dr. Prelack is a graduate of Syracuse University (BS), Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MS), and Tufts University School of Nutrition (Ph.D.). Her research interests are in energy and protein metabolism, and body composition analysis in pediatric burn patients. She has participated in the development of several nutrition programs internationally and is a devoted mentor to nutrition students and clinical staff interested in clinical research. Dr. Prelack has published over 45 peer reviewed articles, abstracts, and text book chapters. She is an assistant professor of nutrition at Simmons College and an adjunct associate professor of nutrition at Tufts University.
