‘Tis the season for giving!

How you can support the Portland Shriners Hospital this holiday season

‘Tis the season for giving!

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and that means that Giving Tuesday is right around the corner. Internationally recognized as a global generosity movement, Giving Tuesday occurs this year on December 1. Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year, this day brings attention to causes worldwide that can benefit from community support. As a nonprofit organization, the Shriners Hospitals for Children health care system is driven by a simple mission: to provide the highest quality care for children with orthopaedic conditions regardless of the families’ ability to pay. This holiday season, show your support for the Portland Shriners Hospital and help us fulfill our mission to change the lives of our patients.

A former patient at the hospital shared a bit about their story and the care they received:

“I was diagnosed with ewing sarcoma (bone cancer) at age 6. I survived the cancer but my life was looking far from good. I couldn't bend my leg, could barely walk or put weight on it. I had three brothers growing up and I remember always watching them play, just wishing with all my heart I would one day be able to join them and have fun. Shriners Hospitals for Children — Portland gave me that opportunity. They gave me a life I would have never been able to have if it wasn't for the great things they do. The people there actually care about you. They do everything in their power to help. They are truly good people and I owe them everything, and they never ask for anything. I am currently 27 years old and have been cancer-free for almost 20 years. I live a good life now and work for a great company. All because of Shriners Hospital. Let's show them some love in return. Thank you guys and girls for everything you have done for people.”

Contribute to Giving Tuesday!

If it is financially feasible for you, consider a monetary donation to the Portland Shriners Hospital for Giving Tuesday. Monetary gifts include donations through checks and/or credit cards, donating stock, memorial and tribute giving, as well as donating through charitable IRA rollovers. All monetary funds go to support one of the many programs at the Portland Shriners Hospital that provides incredible wrap-around care to children.

To learn more about monetary donations, please contact Kathy Park, director of donor development, at 971-544-3334.

Anyone can make a difference and every little bit makes an impact! We appreciate all your efforts to support the hospital this Giving Tuesday! To continue your support through the holiday season and beyond, below are some other easy and affordable ways you can carry on your support.
