Laura Barnett, MCSD/CCC-SLP

Laura Barnett is a pediatric speech/language pathologist at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City.  Laura has been an enthusiastic part of the therapy team at the Salt Lake City Shriners Hospital since 1997. She loves providing high-quality, evidence-based therapy for children with communication and swallowing disorders. Fun and play are an important part of every speech therapy session at Shriners Hospital.  

Laura has been a speech/language pathologist since 1985. Prior to coming to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City, she worked in a developmental preschool in Wyoming and in neurological rehabilitation at the University of Utah and Western Rehabilitation Institute. Laura has advanced training in dysarthria, developmental apraxia of speech, dysphagia, and infant feeding disorders. She has been a leader in augmentative communication in Utah and the surrounding region for the past 25 years, acting as a consultant and presenting at conferences. Laura is very committed to helping children communicate effectively and swallow safely. Laura received her bachelor’s degree, pre-speech pathology and audiology from Phillips University; her master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Montana; and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
