Lisa Carter, PT

Lisa Carter, PT, is a physical therapist in the motion analysis center at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City. She was initially hired to work in the physical therapy department at Shriners Hospital in 1996. After 10 years of inpatient, outpatient and clinical work, she left the hospital for other opportunities and returned to work in the motional analysis center in 2016.

Lisa has experience working with patients of all ages in hospitals, schools, outpatient clinics, and home and community settings. Most of her work has been with neurologic or pediatric orthopaedic patients. As one of many rewarding experiences, Lisa has been able to participate in collecting data for research studies. Her favorite study involved bringing adults up to age 30 back to the lab for an assessment to compare with their childhood studies. Many of the research participants were ecstatic to be able to return to the hospital, and felt that they were “giving back” for the positive experiences in their younger years.

Her favorite part of work in the motion analysis center is the opportunity to collaborate and learn from an amazing team of professionals who take a holistic approach in making medical decisions for treatment of children. She truly appreciates the opportunity to spend the time necessary to obtain a thorough patient evaluation while building a rapport with the children and parents.

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys outdoor adventure, including travel and hiking with her husband and two sons. Her favorite travel destination so far is Croatia. She can be found hiking with a group of girlfriends each Wednesday along the Wasatch front nine months out of the year.
