Theresa Golley, O.T.D., MBA

Theresa Golley, O.T.D., MBA, is the director of rehabilitation at Shriners Hospital for Children — Salt Lake City. She received her doctorate of occupational therapy from Creighton University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah.

Theresa has a passion for evidence-based practice, quality care and performance improvement. She devotes her time to studying and improving our systems in the service of every patient. She believes that every child has the right to excellent health care and advocates for patients on a state and national level.

Theresa brings a wealth of knowledge in pediatric occupational therapy from her previous work in pediatric inpatient, outpatient, clinic and early intervention settings. She specializes in feeding, eating and swallowing disorders, and is certified in sensory integration and praxis therapy.

During her daughter's kindergarten career day, when asked what her mom did for work, her daughter answered, “She just plays.” To some extent, Theresa admits that is true. In occupational therapy, a child’s first “occupation” is to play. Play is at the foundation of Theresa's treatments. When a child is engaged in play, they learn about the world and their role in it. Theresa enjoys connecting with a child’s interest and imagination, and then using that connection to create just the right challenges to help that child meet his/her potential.

Theresa enjoys spending time with her husband and four rambunctious children while skiing, mountain biking, hiking and traveling.
