Five reasons to Walk for LOVE

Five reasons to Walk for LOVE

The 2019 Walk for LOVE™ in Salt Lake City marks our fifth year, so we’re giving you FIVE reasons to come walk with us at the September 21 event!

  1. Support the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children, providing care regardless of ability to pay

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Salt Lake City has been helping children from the Intermountain West and parts of Mexico, regardless of their ability to pay, since 1925. Our hospital relies heavily on donated funds to continue providing highly specialized care for children with orthopaedic needs. The Walk for LOVE™ is a great way to support the mission of the hospital.

  2. Take part in family-centered fun

The Walk for LOVE™ is a day full of family-centered activities. After the 1.5-mile walk finishes, the hospital grounds will be transformed into a playground with carnival games, Fezzy’s Rescue Squad teddy bear clinic, a climbing wall, sno-cones, a DJ, character appearances and more! There will be enough space for children with wheelchairs and their familes to navigate and enjoy the fun.

  3. Become a Champion for LOVE

This annual event has been going on for a few years and we noticed that many walkers have worked very hard to raise funds from their community as part of their walk. We now recognize these top fundraisers as Champions for LOVE! Champions for LOVE will receive recognition at the walk, and the top teams will receive prizes.

  4. You might meet a celebrity

From Spiderman to patients and staff who have been featured in national Shriners Hospitals for Children commercials, there is a good chance you will get to meet someone to fan out about. The Walk for LOVE™ has strong support from the surrounding community and is a favorite for Shriners, patients, staff and the people who love them.

  5. It’s for the kids

As you start the walk, if you scan the crowd, you will notice people wearing burgundy T-shirts with the words, “I’m a Shriners Hospital kid” on the back. These are current and past Shriners Hospitals for Children patients. The day is dedicated to them. As you participate in the day’s activities, you will see the people you are helping when you support the hospital.
